On August 4, 1956, Elvis performed at the Olympia Theater in Miami. Teenage fans swarmed his recently purchased Lincoln Premiere and completely covered the body in lipstick messages and notes.
Elvis drove the lipstick-covered car to Miami Lincoln Mercury (then at 100 SW 13th St) and traded it in for a sleek, white Continental Mark II. The dealership was so thrilled with the publicity that they displayed his lipstick-covered car for a long time .
