1969 Golden Eagle Model 05 Coach: Continental Trailways 1:87 (HO) Diecast Model Bus by Iconic Replicas

Fantastic detail - especially for 1:87 scale!

My father drove one of these busses so I got to see a real one close up. The workmanship on this scale model is spot on. The detail is amazing.

I’ve been waiting for this particular bus model for a long time because this is what I rode on behind my Grandfather who drove for 42 years for Queen City and Safeway Trails, both a part of the Trailways system. The model did not disappoint, from the smallest details such as the destination sign to the gold color scheme to the green tinted passenger windows. This is a memory piece that will be in a case with all my other Trailways memorabilia. Well worth the wait.

This model reminds me of my childhood. When I used to see Continental Trailways in downtown DC, my hometown. Never saw the golden eagle. And I've never rode Trailways. It will always be Grand.

Two of my wife's sisters were attendants on Continental Trailways busses in the sixties. This is why I have bought 2 of these beauties, one for me and one for the surviving sister-in-law. Iconic Replicas did an outstanding job in their reproduction of this fascinating vehicle. I have made the decision to include in my next random sojourn a visit to whatever they are calling the Henry Ford Museum these days to see one in the steel. My only regret with this model is that IR did not take my suggestion to put whitewall tires on the model. They did have versions of the Golden C T bus with them and it would have added immeasurably to the appeal of this miniature!
